President William Ruto has reappointed Faith Boinett as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Pipeline Company, extending her leadership despite public debate over the role.
The appointment, announced in a gazette notice dated Friday, December 19, takes effect on December 23, 2025, and will run for three years.
"IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) (a) of the State Corporations Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, re-appoint FAITH BOINETT to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Pipeline Company Limited, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 23rd December, 2025," the notice reads.
Boinett first assumed the role on December 23, 2022, succeeding Rita Achieng Okuthe, marking a continuation of her tenure at the state corporation.
In a separate move, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has revoked Professor Ben Chumo’s appointment as Chairman of the Kenyatta University Council. Ogamba appointed Professor Clara Samiji Momanyi as the new Chairperson, with a three-year term starting December 19.
"IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints– Under paragraph (a)– Clara Samiji Momanyi (Prof.) to be the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Council of the Kenyatta University, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 19th December, 2025," the notice states. It adds, "The appointment of Ben Chumo (Dr) is revoked."
